No, a referral isn't required. However, speak to your GP about obtaining a Mental Health Care Plan which will enable you to access ten sessions in a calendar year with a $141.65 Medicare rebate per session.

Sessions cost $240, which falls below the Australian Psychological Society recommended fee of $311 per private consultation.

Clients with a Mental Health Care Plan are eligible for a $141.85 rebate per session (up to ten in a calendar year) and will therefore be out of pocket $98.15. Alternatively, you may be able to claim sessions through your private health insurer depending on your level of cover.

Please note that you cannot claim both Medicare and private health insurance on the same consultation.

Sessions run for 50 minutes from your appointment start time. Unfortunately, if you arrive late we will still only be able to work within the time allocated for your appointment.

You may be charged a cancellation fee if you cancel your appointment less than one business day from your scheduled appointment. That is, if your appointment is on Monday, you will need to provide notice on the Friday before.
